On July 11, 1999 we implemented the PDG Shopping Cart software on the Southern Digital web site for the first time. Now in 2002 we have just upgraded our web site to the latest version of PDG Shopping cart. We have just begun making some cosmetic changes. New improvements will be coming soon like;
Improved search by manufacturer.
Search by product type (i. e. Decoders or Systems etc)
US Postal Service automatic cost calculations (Like UPS is today)
Small window on all pages that reflect the Dollar amount in your shopping cart as well as the quantity of items.
System retention of your Name, Address, City, State and Zip code only. You the customer will have the ability to turn this feature on or off. This feature will eliminate the need to fill out this information each time you visit our web site if you choose to turn this feature on.
These are just a few of the new features we will be employing over the next few months, so STAND-BY!
How to use the Cart
At the Home Page select a category form the menu on the left of the screen to begin "Window Shopping. When you have arrived at a window shopping area tabs appear under the logo to further select categories. If more detailed information is available it will appear on the left side of the screen.
If you select BUY on the product description page you will be able to select the quantity, once you press the Buy button the item(s) will be added directly to your cart.
If the item is marked
we are temporarily out of the item and your item will be placed on back order and shipped as soon as we are restocked by the manufacturer. Your account will NOT be charged until the item is shipped. You will be charged for shipping for this item.
If you select the INFO button you will be routed to a product preview screen with a full description of the product. At the bottom of this screen you will have an opportunity to select from any options that are available for the product. In addition if options are selected the total price for the item is automatically updated. You can either "Buy" the item or press the Shop Some More and return to your previous page.
In many cases our suppliers have announced products that will be released in the near future. To help you get your reservations in early for these products we have created a selection button Reserve. This button will allow to reserve any of these new products, your invoice will have $0.00 you will only be charged when the item is actually shipped. We will contact you either by telephone or e-mail prior to shipping your reserved order to ensure you still want the item.
At Southern Digital we keep an extensive inventory of all the products we supply you. Sometimes we get caught short for any number of reasons, when this happens we will change the BUY button to OUT, this will let you know we are out of stock for the moment and will ship the item as soon as we receive it from our suppliers.

If you would like to continue shopping simply press the "Shop Some More" button. This button will take you back to the last catalogue page you were viewing.
When you are ready to check out select "Secure Check Out" and you will be asked all the necessary information to process your order; Name, Address, etc. etc. that we need. We HIGHLY suggest using the Secure Check-Out option.
Our Cookies are good cookies (Soft and chewy Chocolate Chip's)
When you add an item to your personal shopping cart a "Cookie" or small amount of data is downloaded to your PC. This data ONLY contains what items you have placed in your shopping cart. The reason for the Cookie is if you were interrupted during your shopping at Southern Digital, when you return the items you had in your shopping cart will still be there. When you return you can review the items, add new ones or remove any or all of them. This data is retained on your computer for only 4 weeks. After 4 weeks the information will automatically be removed. So our Cookies are good cookies.
